Martha Jennie McMillian Brown

Mrs. Martha Jennie McMillian Brown age 83 of Ararat, VA widow of Mr. William H. Brown, Jr. passed away Sunday morning, December 10, 2006 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. She was born February 16, 1923 in Patrick County to the late Wright and Bertie Arrington McMillian. Mrs. Brown was a member of Fellowship Church and was a homemaker. Surviving are a son, William "Bill" Brown , Ararat, VA,. a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Doug Slate, Pilot Mountain, NC, three grandchildren and spouses, Amy and Mike Leech, Ararat, VA, Mark Slate, Raleigh, NC, Dan and Stephanie Taylor, King, NC, five great grandchildren, Nicole Leech, Megan Leech and Matthew Leech all of Ararat, VA, Cameron Slate, Raleigh, NC and Alexis Taylor, King, NC. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by a sister, Opal Quesinberry. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at Fellowship Church in Ararat, VA conducted by Rev. Kelly Giese and Rev. Clay Manning . Burial will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7-9 PM Monday night at Moody Funeral Home of Mt. Airy where her body will remain until carried to the church toile in state one hour prior to the service.
