Mrs. Martha Billings Lowe, 87, of 145 Melissa Drive, Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Lowe was born July 25, 1922, in Wilkes County, to the late William and Ollie Bauguess Billings. She was a homemaker and a member of Stoney Ridge Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Bobby Hauser and Ruth and Wade Chamberlain, all of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Judy Lowe of Mount Airy; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred and Betty Billings of Austin and Marvin and Naomi Billings of Roaring River. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lowe was preceded in death by her husband, Ander William Lowe; a son, William Ted Lowe; two sisters, Mary Blevins (twin sister) and Pansy Bauguess; and three brothers, Ted Billings, Sherman Billings, and Ezra Billings. The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 19, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Stoney Ridge Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jerry Brooks and the Rev. Rick Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the church. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home for their love and care and also to the Dunmore Plantation.
