Mrs. Martha Guynn McMillian, 87, of 1889 Epworth Road, Cana, VA, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2007, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. McMillian was born November 3, 1919, in Carroll County, VA, to the late General and Sarah McMillian Guynn. She was a homemaker and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Cana, VA. She is survived by four daughters and two sons-in-law, Sarah Easter of Mount Airy, Annie and Troy Ayers of Cana, VA, and Sally Jordan and Bobbie Jean and Glarry Goad, all of NC; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Burt and Brenda McMillian of Crewe, VA, Jack McMillian of Mount Airy, and Ivan and Darlene McMillian of Pilot Mountain; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary Haynes of Cana, VA, and Emma and Bryant Boyd of Mount Airy; and two brothers and a sister-in-law, Jonah and Alma Guynn of Mount Airy and Jay Guynn of Cana, VA. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McMillian was preceded in death by her husband, Claude McMillian; a son, Joseph Claude McMillian; a grandson, Victor Taylor Goad; two sisters, Virginia Allen and Elsie Guynn; and a brother, Josh Guynn. The funeral service will be held Saturday, October 13, 2007, at 2:00 PM at Oak Grove Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Emmett Crotts, and burial will follow in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes before the funeral service. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to all of Mrs. McMillian's caregivers for the love, care, and kindness shown during her illness.
