Martha Magdalene Moore

Martha Magdalene (Pardue) Moore went home to be with the Lord on her eighty-sixth birthday, October 14, 2016. She was a member of Haymore Memorial Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher first to twelve-year-old girls and then to a class of ladies. She sang alto in the choir and served on the music committee for many years. She also served for many years as church clerk. Magdalene was a loving wife and mother. She graduated from Mount Airy High School and then went to work as a bookkeeper at Jones Supply Company, where she met her husband of fifty-eight and a half years, Mitchell Moore. She later worked with him at the same business when it was named Surry Truck and Tractor Company of Mount Airy. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Jean Moore, of the home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wade Mitchell Moore; her parents, Tuttle Ernest Pardue, Sr., and Ina Louisa Jane (Lewis) Pardue; her two sisters, Elizabeth Stanton (Pardue) Vaughn and Barbara Jane (Pardue) Chavka; and her three brothers, Daniel Columbus Pardue, Tuttle Ernest Pardue, Jr., and Thomas Richard Pardue, Sr. The funeral service will be Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at 3:00 PM at Haymore Memorial Baptist Church, with the Rev. Robert McCrary officiating. Flowers will be appreciated as will memorials to Haymore Memorial Baptist Church, P.O. Box 27, Mount Airy, NC 27030. There will be no visitation. In lieu of food, a meal for all those attending the funeral will be served in the church fellowship hall following the burial at Oakdale Cemetery.
