Martha Ann Matthews Pennix

Mrs. Martha Ann Matthews Pennix, age 75 of Mt. Airy, passed away Friday, December 21, 2007 at her home. Mrs. Pennix was born in Surry County, February 29, 1932 to Robert Lee and Ollie Virginia Hall Matthews. She was retried from Renfro Corp after twenty-six years of service. Surviving is her loving husband, Roy William Pennix of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Lindsay Bobbitt and Sue and Tommy Draughn all of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Jamie Bobbitt, Jennifer Lowe, Kevin Simmons and Keith Simmons; six great grandchildren; three sisters, Erma Mason of Blairsville, GA; Christine Culler and Mary Frances Baldwin both of Mt. Airy; and a brother, Roger Matthews also of Mt. Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pennix was preceded in death by a sister, Janie Nunn and by a brother, Bobby Matthews. Funeral services will be held Sunday December 23, 2007 at 3:30 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with services conducted by Rev. Todd Byrd and Rev. Sammy Lawson with burial to follow in the Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday night 7 to 9 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. The family would like to give a special thanks to Gayle McCrary, Debra Maddy and April Cain Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, for all there special love and care they gave to Mrs. Pennix.
