Marvin Andrew Kotila

Mr. Marvin Andrew Kotila, 83, of Arlington, VA, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2011, at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington, VA. Mr. Kotila was born July 20, 1927, in Aberdeen, SD, the only child born to the late Oscar and Lempi Nixon Kotila. Marvin retired from the United States Navy and the Naval Intelligence Service. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Penn Staples of Richmond, VA; a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Christine Kotila of Alexandria, VA; a granddaughter, Katherine Rose Kotila of Alexandria, VA; and a grandson and his wife, Daniel Allen and Alia Staples of Orlando, FL. In addition to his parents, Mr. Kotila was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Dora McCraw Kotila. The funeral service will be held Sunday, March 27, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Roland McCraw officiating. Burial will follow in the McCraw Family Cemetery in Cana, VA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
