Marvin Garland Redd

Mr. Marvin Garland Redd, age 73 of Stuart, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC.  He was born in Patrick County on June 1, 1945 to the late John Henry Redd and Elizabeth Foddrell Redd.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Avis Wright; and a brother, Henry Lane “Boley” Redd.  Mr. Redd had retired from DuPont and loved fishing, hunting, and reading.  He was of the Primitive Baptist faith and never met a stranger.

            Surviving are his wife, Diane Dixon Redd of the home; one daughter, Stephanie Redd of Ridgeway; one son, Dion Redd of Martinsville; two grandchildren, Brittany Woods and husband, Brad, Deionna Redd; two great grandchildren, Taelor Woods, Teagan Woods; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary Wallace and Hilda Redd of Walnut Cove, NC, Roger and Nancy Redd of Stoneville, NC, Maurice and Faye Redd of Winston-Salem, NC, Cephus and Denise Redd of Orville, OH; and several nieces and nephews.

            Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. Avery Preston officiating.  Burial will follow in the Redd Family Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and at other times at the home.  Online condolences may be sent to www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
