Mary Ann Freeman Burton

Mrs. Mary Ann Freeman Burton, age 89, of Dobson passed away Sunday, November 27, 2022, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. She was born February 4, 1933, in Surry County to the late Martin “Buck” Freeman and the late Cassie Mae Holyfield Freeman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years, Leroy Burton; and her daughter, Lydia Burton Gambill.  

Left to cherish her memories are her son and daughter-in-law, Lynn and Judy Burton; son-in-law, Michael Gambill; grandsons, Donnie Lynn and Sandy Burton and Dustin Gray and Amanda Burton; special great-granddaughter and her husband, Starline and Andrew Howard; great-grandchildren, Cassie Burton, Kaitlyn Brown, Devin Burton, Victoria Burton, Christopher Burton, Brody Burton, Ryley Burton; a great-great granddaughter, MacieRae Howard; a brother and sister-in-law, Billy Gray and Louise Freeman; a special niece and her husband, Wendy and Michael Norman. Mrs. Burton was a member of Union Cross Baptist Church where she was also a member of the choir, and enjoyed praying for all her friends and family. Mrs. Burton was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great, great- grandmother and also enjoyed her role as a farmer’s wife. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 29, 2022, from 1:00-2:00 at Union Cross Baptist Church. Services will begin at 2:00 PM in the church with Rev. Allen Horton and Rev. Tim Burton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Union Cross Baptist Church, 1274 Twin Oaks Road, Elkin NC 28621. Moody-Davis Funeral Service is serving the Burton Family.
