Mary Ruth Arnder Vipperman

Mrs. Mary Ruth Arnder Vipperman, 83, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday night, July 10, 2020, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin.  Mrs. Vipperman was born September 21, 1936, in Surry County, the daughter of the late Lorenzo Ellis and Clara Senter Mosley.  Mary Ruth retired from Sara Lee after many years of service and was a member of Westside Baptist Church.  She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Mitchell Wilson of Mount Airy; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Gary Arnder of Mount Airy and Gregory and Tonya Arnder of Cana, VA; a stepson and his wife, Steven and Susan Arnder of Mount Airy; her grandchildren, Mandy and Luke Gravitte and Wesley Wilson, all of Mount Airy; her stepgrandchildren, Chris and Christi Arnder of Mount Airy, Cynthia and Carl Mercer of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Christina and Darryl Combs of Mountain City, TN; a great-grandchild; ten great-stepgrandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives; and a special friend and caregiver, Sherri Hiatt of Ararat, VA.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Vipperman was preceded in death by her first husband, Chester Arnder; her second husband, Willard Lee Vipperman; a son, Wesley Mosley; a sister, Marie Gammons; three half-sisters; three half-brothers; and a special cousin, Edith Wray.  Respecting the current limitations of numbers for public gatherings at this time (COVID-19), a graveside service will be held Thursday, July 16, 2020, at 11:00 AM at Old Hollow Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Steve Johnson officiating.  No formal visitation will be held; however, family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday from 7:00 until 10:00 AM at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Westside Baptist Church, 107 Spring Creek Trail, Mount Airy, NC  27030.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
