Mary Jean Ayers

         Mrs. Mary Jean Ayers, age 75 of Laurel Fork, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Twin County Regional Hospital in Galax.  She was born on December 22, 1945 in Carroll County to the late J.H. Alderman and Julia Belle Nester Alderman.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Alderman; and a half-brother, Freel Carson Alderman.  Jean was the manager of the Blue Ridge Motel from 1970 to 2018 and was a member of Tory Creek Baptist Church.  She loved working in her flowers.

         Surviving is her husband of 57 years, Melvin Lee Ayers, Jr. of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Shawn and Rhonda Ayers of Meadows of Dan; two grandchildren, Michael Paul Ayers and fiancé, Brianna Miller, Jennifer Nicole Bain; and one great grandchild, Matthew Hunter Bain.

         Following Covid19 regulations, a funeral service will be held Thursday, January 21, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Shawn Carter officiating.  Burial will follow in the Maple Shade Cemetery in Laurel Fork.  Friends may come by the funeral home on Wednesday from 12 to 5 to pay their respects; however, due to Covid19, the family requests no food or visitors come to the home at this time.  Online condolences may be sent to www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
