Mary Edith Snow Baer

Mrs. Mary Edith Snow Baer, 91, of 202 Painter Street, Galax, VA, and formerly of Postmaster Lane, Mount Airy, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2009, at Waddell Nursing Center in Galax, VA. Mrs. Baer was born June 15, 1918, in McDowell County, WV, to the late Philip Y. and Mattie Simmons Snow. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Surviving are three nieces, Cathy Snow of Toast, Hilda Gay Snow of Tallahassee, FL, and Glenda Snow Thompson and husband, Steve, of Hilton Head, SC; and four nephews, Jerry P. Snow and wife, Jane, of Montgomery, AL, Philip M. Snow and wife, Beverly, of Toast, Joey Snow of Toast and fiancee, Denise Norman, of Siloam, and Jeff Snow and wife, Anita, of Pilot Mountain. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Baer was preceded in death by her husband, Simon Baer; and two brothers, Carl R. Snow and Joseph Anthom Snow. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Todd E. Byrd officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 PM until the time for the service at the funeral home.
