Mary Frances Matthews Baldwin

Mrs. Mary Frances Matthews Baldwin, 67, of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, November 23, 2008, after a battle with cancer. Mrs. Baldwin was born July 13, 1941, in Surry County, the daughter of the late Robert and Ollie Hall Matthews. She was a devoted and loving mother. She was of the Baptist faith and retired from Renfro Corporation following 26 ½ years of service. Surviving are her husband, Andrew Baldwin; two daughters, Annette Jones and husband, David, of Mount Airy and Kim Kirk and husband, Joe, of Independence, VA; a son, Phillip Baldwin of the home; five grandchildren, Danielle Jones, Miranda Jones, Nathaniel Baldwin, Scott Baldwin, and Amber Kirk; two sisters, Christine Culler of Mount Airy and Irma Mason and husband, Worth, of Blairsville, GA; a brother, Roger Matthews of Mount Airy; seven nieces; nine nephews; and several great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Baldwin was preceded in death by two sisters, Janie Nunn and Martha Ann Pennix; and a brother, Bobby Matthews. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 26, 2008, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Todd E. Byrd and the Rev. Jimmy Slate, and burial will follow in the Center Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
