Mary Margaret Blizard Thompson

Ms. Mary Margaret Blizard Thompson, 95, of Hendersonville, passed away Monday morning, October 17, 2022, at Margaret R. Pardee Memorial Hospital.  Ms. Thompson was born September 15, 1927, in Surry County, one of nine children born to the late Robert Anderson and Cavie Elmer Montgomery Blizard.  Margaret was reared in Mount Airy and graduated from Mount Airy High School.  She later lived in Greensboro for more than 30 years and retired as a bookkeeper from Kawneer Doors.  Margaret was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for 70 years, and she volunteered countless hours for the Latter-Day Saints genealogy library for 60 years.  As a ray of sunshine in a dark world, she genuinely loved everyone, and everyone loved her in return.  She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Terry and Robert Hayes, DeEtte and Steve Bryson, and Tammy and Tony Creasman; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Ms. Thompson was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Dotson and Ruby Roberts; and six brothers, John William Blizard, Anderson Blizard, Claude Blizard, Spurgeon Blizard, Bob Blizard, and Tom Blizard.  A graveside service will be held Thursday, October 20, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Oakdale Cemetery, with Tony Creasman officiating.  No formal visitation will be held.  Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to a local fire department.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
