Mary Bolich

Mary Freeman Bolich, 86, of Asheville NC, died July 20, 2020, in home
hospice Palm Desert CA surrounded by friends and pets. Mary was a
happy, optimistic and energetic woman with many friends in several
states North, South, East, and West. She grew up in Elkin, NC and
married her childhood sweetheart "Tarz" Percy Gray Bolich Jr in nearby
Dobson NC . They had three children, Percy Gray Bolich III of Boca
Raton FL, Anne Bolich Pickering (deceased), Richard Edward Bolich of
Raleigh NC. The family spent the school years in Rumson NJ and
Middletown NJ and enjoyed restoring old wooden boats in the backyard,
boating on the Navesink River, fishing in the Atlantic, and trying to
catch Anne's runaway pony. Summers were spent in the two small home
towns in Surry County NC, and a beach vacation cottage in Ocean Drive
SC with all the family relatives coming for their week long visit to
the beach house throughout the summer. Mary and Tarz could never get
enough "Do It Yourself" projects, and opened a side business, Fair
Haven Home Supply, with hardware, lumber, and house painting, then
designed and built their dream house in Middletown NJ mostly
themselves. In later years as a widow, Mary decided to renovate the
oldest home on the Dana Point, CA headland with a view all the way to
Mexico. Bad knees forced the sale of that 5 level cliff side home, but
the silver lining was a reunion with her old North Carolina childhood
friends in Asheville, weekly mahjong, and new golf buddies. Mary
provided for several animal charities and would prefer donations to
the humane society in lieu of flowers. She will be buried Saturday, July 25, 2020, with a 3:00 P.M.
graveside service in the Dobson City Cemetery.
