Mary Phillips Botkin

Mrs. Mary Phillips Botkin, age 99, of Fort Collins, CO and formerly of Mount Airy passed away in Fort Collins, CO on January 7, 2025. She was born on August 14, 1925, in Carroll County, VA the daughter of Jesse Andrew and Bertha Horton Phillips. Mary was retired from Quality Mills, Inc and a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church of Mount Airy, NC. Mary loved Mount Airy and supported the community in many ways. She served as a step-on guide for tour buses through the Visitors Center. Mary also worked as a docent at the Gertrude Smith House for 8 years. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Bruce Scott; her son and daughter-in-law, Martin Randolph “Randy” and Katherine Botkin; grandchildren, Bennett Lewis Scott, Michael Botkin, Thomas Botkin, Christine Botkin Jessup. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Maj. Henry Arthur Botkin (USAF retired), foster parents, Martin and Mary Bennett, her sister, Evelyn Armstrong. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 11:00 PM at Moody Funeral Service Chapel with Dr. Paul Ridolfi officiating. Entombment will be held at Skyline Memory Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends on Saturday February 1, 2025, at the funeral home from 10:00 until 11:00 AM.
