Mary Alice Bryant Bowman

Mrs. Mary Alice Bryant Bowman, 78, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at Kernersville Medical Center. Mrs. Bowman was born October 19, 1939, in Surry County, one of five children born to the late Walter Marion and Addie Smith Bryant. Alice graduated from Beulah High School and worked at Renfro Corporation for many years. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Yvonne and Dean Slate of Winston-Salem; a son and daughter-in-law, G.W. and Pam Bowman of Cana, VA; five grandchildren, Lillie Slate, Ben Slate, and Addie Slate, all of Winston-Salem, the Rev. Andrew Bowman and his wife, Felecia, of Narrows, VA, and the Rev. Luke Bowman of Lynchburg, VA; a great-grandson, Kalvin Bowman of Narrows, VA; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bowman was preceded in death by her husband, George Lester Bowman; a sister, Frances Bryant; three brothers, Porter Bryant, Weldon Bryant, and Joe Bryant; and a half-brother, Aaron Brintle. A graveside service will be held Saturday, November 25, 2017, at 2:00 PM at Ivy Green Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Andrew Bowman and the Rev. Luke Bowman officiating. No formal visitation will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Walnut Ridge Resident Donations, 411 Windmill Street, Walnut Cove, NC 27052.
