Mrs. Mary Josephine Joyce Brinkley, 90, of Pilot Mountain, passed away early Wednesday morning, April 10, 2024, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Brinkley was born August 25, 1933, in Surry County, the daughter of the late Arthur Dallas and Ora Reddick Joyce. Josephine was a farmer, bookkeeper, and tax preparer for individuals as well as several businesses. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling, having traveled to all 50 states and several foreign countries. She is survived by a son and two daughters-in-law, Jeff and Paula Brinkley and Debbie Brinkley; her grandchildren, Ellen Brinkley White, Joel and Annie Brinkley, Maggie Brinkley Nicholson, and Mary Kate and Lucas Brewer; and her great-grandchildren, Lilly Brinkley, Corrina Brinkley, Addilyn Nicholson, Aurelia White, Aurora White, Brayden Nicholson, Walker Brewer, and Yadkin Brewer. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brinkley was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Madison Brinkley; a son, the Rev. Douglas Edward Brinkley; an infant sister; an infant brother; a sister, Betty Jean Taylor; and a brother, Ralph Arthur Joyce. The funeral service will be held Sunday, April 14, 2024, at 4:00 PM at Pine Ridge Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Rachael Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in the Jessup Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3:00 until 4:00 PM at Pine Ridge Presbyterian Church.
