Mary Ruth Coleman Burton

Mrs. Mary Ruth Coleman Burton, 86, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday evening, March 25, 2011, at her home. Mrs. Burton was born January 6, 1925, daughter of the late Jack and Ollie Coleman. She retired from Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Burton was a lifelong and devoted member of Grace Moravian Church, where she served as circle leader and held various offices throughout the church. Mrs. Burton is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Allen and Judy Burton and Coley and Jan Burton, all of Mount Airy; five grandchildren and their spouses, Brad and Stephanie Burton of Glade Hill, VA, Ryan and Kelly Burton of Wilmington, Todd Burton of Coronado, CA, Mandy Burton of Charlotte, and Laurin Burton of North Wilkesboro; five great-grandchildren, Aspen Dillard and Levi Burton of Palm Coast, FL, Lauren Wood and Jenna Burton of Glade Hill, VA, and Banks Burton of Wilmington; a sister and brother-in-law, Jackie and Bill Scott of Mount Airy; and a sister-in-law, Betty Burton McCraw of Lambsburg, VA. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Burton was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Allen Burton; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lena and Joe Greenwood and Faye and Paul Pike. The funeral service will be held Monday, March 28, 2011, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Tony Hayworth officiating. Burial will follow in God's Acre. The family will receive friends Monday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The family would like to express their appreciation to all the caregivers and special friends for the wonderful care given to Mrs. Burton during her illness.
