Mary Edythe Marion Draughn

Mrs. Mary Edythe Marion Draughn, 76, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday evening, February 8, 2013, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Draughn was born February 27, 1936, in Surry County, the daughter of the late Jack and Euna Belle Marion. Edythe was a homemaker and a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Robert Cleveland "Bobby" Draughn of the home; a daughter, Jill Draughn Welch of Mount Airy; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Steve and Janice Draughn, David and Robin Draughn, Doug Draughn, and Darrell Draughn, all of Mount Airy; twelve grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth and Buddy McHone, Effie and Jimmy Draughn, and Nellie and Terry Thomas, all of Mount Airy; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Donna Marion of Mount Airy; and her very special friend, "Ginger." In addition to her parents, Mrs. Draughn was preceded in death by a sister, Geneva "Pete" Rachels; and an infant brother, Russell G. Marion. The funeral service will be held Sunday, February 10, 2013, at 3:00 PM at Piney Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mark A. Reece, Jr., the Rev. Kermit L. Gray, and the Rev. David Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the Draughn Family Cemetery. Her body will lie-in-state one hour prior to the funeral service at Piney Grove Baptist Church. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Operation Katie, P.O. Box 585, Mount Airy, NC 27030. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Draughn family.
