Mary Linda (Cox) Foy

Mrs. Mary Linda Cox Foy, age 85 of Mount Airy, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson surrounded by her loving family.  Mrs. Foy was born March 6, 1938, in Surry County to the late Thomas Edward and Elizabeth O’Lena Sprinkle Cox.  Linda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.  Mom/Nanny was a homemaker who loved her family, adored birdwatching (knew every species), flower and vegetable gardening and she had a green thumb. Later in life, she enjoyed playing bridge with her friends.  She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but they are thankful for the promise of seeing her again.  Mrs. Foy is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Sallie Foy and David, Lynn Foy Rigney and Scott; three grandchildren, Chris Hazel and Abby, Alex Tedder and Dalton, Michael Hazel; one great-grandson, Remi Tedder; two step great-grandchildren, Kylie and Harper; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Diane Cox Blakemore and Dennis, Betsy Cox Smith and Ed; along with several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Foy was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Edward Crawford Foy, III; two sisters, Jo Cox Campbell, and Tommye Cox Talley.  A private memorial service will be held at a later date.  The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for the loving care shown to Mrs. Foy during her illness.
