Mary Hope Golding

Mrs. Mary Hope Booker Golding, 96, of Mt. Airy, NC, passed away at her home Friday, September 28, 2018 with her family by her side.  She was born in Surry County to the late James Garfield and Lula Moss Booker.  She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother; and an avid golfer.  Mrs. Golding was a true “Southern Lady”.  She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Dianne and Steve Wrenn of Asheboro and Sandra and Joe Golding of Boones Mill, VA; a son and daughter-in-law, Billie and Cheryl Golding of Roanoke; grandchildren and spouses, Joel and Margie Golding, Brian and Rebekah Wrenn, Holly and Jonathan Hart, and Will Golding; great grandchildren, Ben Farmer, Chloe Hart, Kayla Golding, Jackson Wrenn, Lillian Wrenn.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Golding was preceded in death by her husband, William A. “Bill” Golding; sisters, Pearl Hall, Cassie Shelton, Carrie Vernon, Lois Golden, and Oneda Blansett; brothers, Thomas, Moore, Herman, J.G. and Billy Booker.  Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, October 1, 2018 at Franklin Heights United Methodist Church with Rev. Dennis “Bud” Cameron officiating.  Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Sunday, September 30, 2018 at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy and at other times at the home of Mrs. Golding.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Franklin Heights United Methodist Church, 416 S. Franklin Rd., Mt. Airy, NC 27030 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.  The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff from Mountain Valley Hospice, Danette, Margo, Sylvia and Tracey; and also caregivers, Debbie Bowman, Donna Helton, and Ann Mayes; and a special thanks to Dr. Roger Kerley, Dr. Carl Rhoden, and Dr. Tomas Balogh for the wonderful care given to Mrs. Golding.  Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
