Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Galyean Golding, 71, of 1519 Pipers Gap Road, Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday morning, February 9, 2010, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Golding was born January 19, 1939, in Surry County, daughter of the late Tommy and Belle Edwards Galyean. She retired from Bassett Furniture Inc. and was a member of Westview Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Jenny Faye and Guadalupe "Lupe" Adame of Mount Airy and Lisa Ann and Tony Garcia of the home; two grandsons, Juan William Adame and Jose Samuel Merlacruz, both of Mount Airy; a granddaughter-in-law, Linda Adame of Mount Airy; three great-grandchildren, Angel Rose Adame, Kaylin Faith Adame, and Alyssia Nevaeh Adame; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Peggy and Landon Edwards, Judy and Randall "Sonny" Cockerham, and Eva Gwyn, all of Mount Airy; a brother, Jimmy Galyean of Mount Airy; three special nieces, Crystal Estrada, Tammy Adame, and Nancy Gwyn, all of Mount Airy; a special nephew, Thomas "Bucky" Meredith of Mount Airy; and her extended family, Kenneth Roberts, Josh Adame, Michael True, Matthew "Bubba" Marion, and Casey McGee. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Golding was preceded in death by her husband, William Roby Golding; a granddaughter, Dolorez Elizabeth Adame; a sister, Betty Meredith; a brother, Leroy Galyean; a brother-in-law, Bill Gwyn; and a special nephew, Timothy "Timmy" "Thump" Edwards. The funeral service will be held Friday, February 12, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Darren Slate and the Rev. James Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
