On January 26, 2022, Anne Gore took the hand of Jesus and stepped into her heavenly home. Mary Anne Martin Gore was born December 19, 1937, to the late Emmitt and Stella Martin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin Gore; her brother, Grant Martin; her sister-in-law, Genevieve Martin; and a very special friend, Ila Mae George. Left to cherish Anne’s memories are daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry Gore (Jeff Mears), Marie (Patrick) Hawks, Janet (Trent) Childress, and Kathy (Jonathan) Sechrist. Her grandchildren and their spouses include Michael (Courtney) Fussell, Joshua (Katelyn) Fussell, Daniel (Jeanette) Fussell, Maggie Hawks, Laurie (Kenneth) Blevins, Jennifer Murray (Eddie Jackson), Brittney (Jonathan) Moser, and Levi (Magon) Sechrist; her great-grandchildren, Carson, Mason, Zoey, Hunter, Naomi, Ayla, Owen (due in June), Colton, Delilah, Finnley, Athena, Archer, and Noah; her brother, John Martin; her sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Lester Collins; and sister-in-law, June Martin. Anne had two honorary daughters, Cindy Marion and Tammy Loman. She is also survived by a very special friend, Pat Collins. Anne worked for many years at Mount Airy High School and Mount Airy Junior High School. She was a true Granite Bear, always helping the youth foundation with fundraising. She also worked at Rockford Street School and Flat Rock Elementary in the beginning of her career. She went on to become Nutrition Supervisor for Surry County Schools. After her retirement she worked twelve additional years, part-time, as Supervisor in Stokes County Schools, Yadkin County Schools, and Elkin City Schools. Anne also served as a district and state officer for the School Nutrition Association. Anne will always be remembered for her wonderful cooking, especially her potato salad, fried chicken, and her delicious cakes. She had a great love for flowers, gardening, birds, and animals. She dearly loved her pets as well as the pets of everyone else. Anne was a very active member of Mount Airy Wesleyan Church. She had a tremendous love for God and her family. She was a very kind, loving, giving person, and will be truly missed by her family and many friends. Services will be held at Mount Airy Wesleyan Church on Thursday, February 3, 2022, at 2:00 PM and will be officiated by Richard Loman and Eric Smith. Visitation will be held prior to the service, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM. A graveside service will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens.
