Mary Lou Harrison

Mary Lou Harrison passed away Friday, May 27, 2022 at the age of 75. Mary was born March 3, 1947 in Garrett, Kentucky. She attended First Baptist Church of Dobson, North Carolina.

Alongside her loving husband, Bill, Mary owned and operated Harrison Electric in Baytown, Texas, for 27 years where they served their community with great love. For those that knew Mary, learning that she was a small business owner and electrical contractor herself should not come as a surprise. Mary was exceedingly gifted at anything she did.

From gardening and crocheting, to home projects and even owning an Italian restaurant, there was truly nothing she couldn’t do. She would joke that she just couldn’t sit still, but in reality, Mary was known for her servant’s heart and love for others.

In 2009, Bill and Mary moved from Baytown, Texas to Dobson, North Carolina. Although it was Bill who was native to the area, it was Mary who immediately fit right in. She loved to spend time exploring nature, hunting, canning vegetables and trading recipes with relatives and friends.

Mary was a loving wife, sister, daughter, aunt, stepmother, grandmother, great-grandmother, cousin and friend who will be dearly missed.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Billy Harrison; her parents, Bee and Amel Coburn; sister Joyce Brasher; sister Rita Coburn; brother-in-law David Brasher and stepdaughter Adina Ryan. She is survived by her siblings Larry (Nadine) Coburn, Eddie (Sheila) Coburn and Elmo (Paula) Coburn. She leaves nieces and nephews: David (Cassie) Brasher, Tammy (David) Davis, Bobbie (Darron) Melton, Ann (Fritz) Langley, Jason (Tara) Coburn, Ryan (Melissa) Coburn, Courtney Coburn, Kristi Lynch, Chris (Lacy) Coburn and Josh Coburn.  Surviving grandchildren include Ashli (Alex) Nixon, Whitney (Chris) Gherman and Brooke (Matthew) Dusenberry. Her great-grandchildren include Isa Gherman, Emerson Nixon, Laurel Nixon, Sloane Dusenberry and Olivia Dusenberry. She is also survived by many other extended family members and friends that she loved dearly.
