Mrs. Mary Victoria Smith Haynes, 85, of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday, February 26, 2011, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Haynes was born August 20, 1925, in Surry County, to the late Culbert Erastus and Susan Etta Willard Smith. She was a homemaker and a member of Epworth United Methodist Church. Mrs. Haynes is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Johnnie and Evelyn Woodruff Haynes of Dobson and Stephen Conrad and Tammy Moorefield Haynes of Winston-Salem; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Marie Stevens of Hastings, FL, Ruth and Ernest Easter of Mount Airy, and Eunice Johnson of Boonville; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Clinton and Frances Smith and Roy and Mildred Smith, all of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Haynes was preceded in death by her husband, Conrad Coleman Haynes; two sons, Charles Haynes and Larry Haynes; a grandson, Johnnie Mack Haynes, Jr.; three sisters, Algie Underwood, Virginia Rippey, and Alma Smith; and a brother, Lanford Smith. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Dennis W. "Bud" Cameron and the Rev. Ricky Easter officiating. Burial will follow in the Epworth United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, February 28, 2011, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Epworth United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 132, Cana, VA 24317.
