Hazel Mounce Cummings, 100, of Elkin, passed away January 8 surrounded by loved ones.
Hazel was born in Surry County on June 14, 1922, to the late William and Daisy Mounce. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert James Cummings, Sr., her son, R.J. Cummings Jr., her daughter, Brenda Cummings Spence, two brothers and five sisters. Hazel is survived by her daughters, Karen Sue Armstrong-Cummings and her husband Dan, Barbara Ann Cummings Reed; daughter-in-law, Jo Anne Steele Cummings, grandchildren, Rebecca Cummings, Jennifer Cummings, Patrick Spence and wife Erin, Daniel Armstrong and wife Zoe, Robert Cummings and wife Kimberly, Molly Martin and husband Michael; great grandchildren, Joshua Cave, Jacob Cave, Jenna Cave, Samuel Cummings, Naomi Martin, Nolan Spence, Perry Cummings, Henley Martin, Zane Spence; her honorary daughters, Carolyn Martin, Paulette Gregory, Ruby Hauser, Sharon Brinegar, Caroline Mayhall, Stephanie Hurt, and Vanessa Gomillion. Hazel was a faithful member of Little Richmond Baptist Church as long as her health permitted. Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 11, 2023, in the chapel of Little Richmond Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Reverend Kenny Pardue will officiate the services. The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the church from 1:00 PM until the time of her service. Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson, NC is serving the Cummings family.
