Mrs. Mary "Ethel" Morrison Johnson age 85 of 1542 Forest Drive, Mt. Airy, NC. widow of Mr. Wilfred Johnson passed away Tuesday afternoon, December 19, 2006 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. She was born February 17, 1921 in Patrick County, VA. to the late Charles and Mary Martin Morrison, she was a homemaker and member of Haymore Memorial Baptist Church. Surviving are three daughters and son-in-law Mickey Murib of Winston Salem, Nelda Thomas and Mary and David Jenkins all of Mt. Airy, five grandchildren Brian Parker of Winston Salem, Jill Neale of Greensboro, Brad Thomas of Charlotte, Mark Thomas of Lowgap and Matthew Jenkins of Mt. Airy, six great grandchildren DeAnna Parker, Madison Parker, Jacob Parker, Cameron Neale, Cassidy Thomas and Caitlin Thomas, two sisters Irene "Sue" Nelson and Alice Gardner both of Mt. Airy, a sister-in-law Birchelle King of Largo, FL. and by two brothers-in-law James Snow and Claude Cook both of Mt. Airy. In addition to her husband and parents Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by three brothers Tom Morrison, Pete Morrison and Monk Morrison and by a son-in-law Junior Thomas. A memorial service will be held Thursday December 21, 2006 at 4:00 P.M. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel of Mt. Airy conducted by Rev. Robert McCrary. The family will receive friends 1 hour before the service at Moody Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Haymore Memorial Baptist Church, 319 Rockford St. Mt. Airy, NC. 27030. The family would like to give a special thanks to Reda Ward and the staff at Surry Community Nursing Center and also to Melody in the Intensive Care Unit at Northern Hospital of Surry County.
