Mary Magdalene Tilley Jones

Mrs. Mary Magdalene Tilley Jones, 81, of 1966 Sandy Ridge Road, Cana, VA, passed away Thursday evening, January 7, 2010, at her home. Mrs. Jones was born June 12, 1928, in Surry County, to the late Paul and Lessie Easter Tilley. She was a homemaker and retired from Renfro Corporation. Mrs. Jones was a member of Paul's Creek Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Gary Fleming and Wanda and Wayne Holt, all of Cana, VA; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Sharon Jones of Cana, VA; five grandchildren and their spouses, April and Jay Delacruz, Cindy and Brad Barker, and Brandon Jones, all of Cana, VA, Gary Fleming, Jr. and Amy of Galax, VA, and Chad and Michelle Hawks of Barren Springs, VA; five great-grandchildren, Benjamin Delacruz, Jessi Delacruz, Jackie Delacruz, Brittney Barker, and Joshua Hawks; three sisters, Marie Cooke of King, Margie Vaughn of Mount Airy, and Anna Ruth Rakes, of Cana, VA; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Burney and Edith Tilley of Cana, VA, and James and Betty Tilley of Galax, VA. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, Namon Jones; four sisters, Pauline Dowell, Pernie Mae Campbell, Clara Towe, and Gladys Tilley; and a brother, Clinton Tilley. The funeral service will be conducted at 3:30 PM Sunday, January 10, 2010, at Paul's Creek Baptist Church, by the Rev. Larry Jones and the Rev. David "Buster" Sechrist. Burial will follow in the Jones Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 1966 Sandy Ridge Road in Cana, VA. There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Linda Lineberry for the special care given to their mother during her time of need.
