Mrs. Mary Evelyn Brown Lawson, age 83 of Mt. Airy, passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at Golden Living Center. Mrs. Lawson was born in Stokes County, February 18, 1925 to Manuel Pinkley and Emma Lelia Caudle Brown. She was retired from Spencer's Inc. and attended Flat Top Primitive Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Gary Martin of Mt. Airy; two sons and a daughter-in-law, William Carlis Lawson of the home; Donald and Pam Lawson of Lowgap; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and a brother and sister-in-law, Curtis and Frances Brown of Lowgap. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lawson was preceded in death by her husband, William Cleo Lawson and three sisters and four brothes. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, August 3, 2008 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Arlis Thomas. Burial will follow in Flat Top Primitive Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 7:00 to 9:00 at the funeral home. The family would like to express a special thanks to Mary Wall and all the staff at Golden Living Center for the wonderful care given to Mrs. Lawson during her stay there. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Flat Top Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
