Mary "Lib" Elizabeth White

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth “Lib” Walker White, age 60, of Dobson, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2024, at The Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born September 15, 1963, in Surry County, to the late John Paul Walker and the late Susan Naomi Nichols Walker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a special uncle, Posey Nichols; and her brothers-in-law, Sammy White and Mike White; and a special friend, Terry Cockerham.

Left to cherish her memories are her loving husband of 37 years, Ricky White; her sons and daughter-in-law, Jacob White, and Andrew and Lacey White; and her bonus children, Brooke Proctor, and Tor Tonnesen; her sister and brother-in-law, Susan Paulette and Bruce Gwynn; her brothers and sister-in-law Eric Walker, and John and Dawn Walker; her sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Cathy and Charlie Snow and, and Julie White; and many special nieces and nephews; and a special friend and bonus sister, Debbie Cave; and special friends, Bob and Irene White.

Lib was a loving wife, mother, sister and aunt, and friend to all that knew her. She was a graduate of the Mount Airy High School Class of 1981, and a graduate of Surry Community College. She worked for attorney P. M. Sharpe, and Sharon Lowe PLLC, before working for Surry Community College for 30 years before her retirement. A Celebration of Lib’s life will be held Saturday September 7, 2024, at 2:00 PM in the Moody-Davis Chapel with Rev. Anthony Thomas and Rev. Steve Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service. The family wishes to thank the staff at Novant Medical Center ICU and Mountain Valley Hospice for the wonderful care given to Lib during her illness. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, PO Box 315, Dobson NC 27017, or the charity of the giver’s choice. Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson is serving the White family.
