Mary Lou Miller Sidden

Mrs. Mary Lou Miller Sidden, age 86, of State Road, NC (formerly of Dobson), passed away at her home on Monday, November 19, 2018.  She was born in Surry County on January 22, 1932, to the late Walter Miller and the late Helen Burcham Miller.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Sidden; three brothers James, Donald, and Dan Miller.  Mrs. Sidden was retired from Washington Mills and a member of Dobson United Methodist Church.  Surviving are her two daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Calvin Deal of High Point, and Tereia and Scott Shirley of Winston-Salem; three sons and daughters-in-law, John and Cathy Sidden of State Road, Robert and Gay Lynn Sidden of Southport, Philip and Teresa Sidden of Sanford; nine grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; sister ReElla Ball of State Road; sister-in-law Emeline Miller of Elkin; many nieces and nephews. Also her faithful dog TC.  A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, November 23, 2018, at the Dobson United Methodist Church with burial in the Grassy Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery.  Rev. Harry Sammons and Kathy Earley will officiate the services.  The family will receive friends at the Dobson United Methodist Church on Friday, November 23, 2018, from 1:00 PM until the time of her service at 2:00 PM.  The family has requested in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Dobson United Methodist Church PO Box 497, Dobson, NC 27017, or to the Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030, or to the Foothills Food Pantry PO Box 1065, Dobson, NC 27017.  The family would like to give thanks for the love and care given to their mother by Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, particularly Courtney Wood and Ramona Perdue.
