Mary Jane Rakes Lumpkin

Mary Jane Rakes Lumpkin, age 81 of Stuart, Virginia passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, June 11, 2022.  She was born in Giles County, Virginia on April 22, 1941, to the late Elder Dewey Branscomb Rakes and Viola Mae Sink Rakes.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two children, Joey Beasley and Jerry Lynn Fielder; one granddaughter, Kimberly Sharp Pack; three siblings, Gladys Lenora Rakes Barnard, Shirley Jean Rakes, and James Dewey Rakes. 

Mary is survived by one son, Tommy Beasley; one daughter, Carolyn Sue Hedrick; four grandsons, David Beasley, Matthew Beasley, Ryan Beasley and Gregory Fielder; one granddaughter, Chasity Fielder, great-grandchildren; three siblings, Lula Mae Rakes Dalton, Everett Rakes, and Raymond Rakes; her fiancé, Robert Most; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A funeral service for Mary will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Gary Combs officiating.  Burial will immediately follow in the Elamsville Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.   The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services on Tuesday morning.  Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
