Mary Margaret Mabry Strickland

Mrs. Mary Margaret Epperson Mabry Strickland, 87, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday evening, December 11, 2020, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  Mrs. Strickland was born December 25, 1932, in Patrick County, VA, the daughter of the late John K. Epperson, Sr. and Lillie White Epperson.  Mary Margaret worked as a certified nursing assistant for many years and was a member of Unity Church.  She is survived by a daughter, Michelle Strickland of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Dreama Mabry of Yadkinville; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Strickland was preceded in death by her first husband, Fred Mabry; her second husband, Thomas Barnard Strickland; a daughter, Margaret Sable “Penny” Mabry Redden; a son, Jackson Calvin Mabry; a granddaughter, Melanie Dawn Mabry; three sisters, Ludie Gaye Worrell, Edith Goins, and Shelby Swisher; and two brothers, Andrew Epperson and John K. Epperson, Jr.  A memorial visitation will be held Wednesday, December 16, 2020, from 3:00 until 4:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Western Carolina Chapter, 4600 Park Road, Suite 250, Charlotte, NC  28209.
