Mary Lou McWilliams

It is with sadness to announce the passing of Mary Lou McWilliams in Mt. Airy, NC on November 7^th, 2022. Mary Lou died from complications from a life-long fight with Crohn’s Disease. Despite being diagnosed with this severe illness during her teen’s, she outlived the medical world's expectations.  She died at the age of 74 when no one thought she would live beyond 30. She lived each day to its fullest, including being the only female driver in multiple demolition derbies in the 1970’s.  This is how she is remembered- strong, independent and full of spirit. Her greatest joy was her family, including her sweet dog, Annie. She will be sorely missed.  Mary Lou is survived by her sister, multiple nieces and their families.  Cremation has taken place and per her request there will be no public service.  Moody Funeral Services in Mt.
