Mary Ann Letterman Myers

Ms. Mary Ann Letterman Myers, 76, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday, December 15, 2017, at her home. Ms. Myers was born October 24, 1941, in Avery County, the only child born to the late Clessen and Maude Peterson Letterman. Ann graduated from Appalachian State Teachers’ College and worked as a school librarian for many years. She later worked in a public library in Burnsville. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Elisabeth “Beth” and Scott Herron of Chapin, SC; a son and daughter-in-law, Garrett Christopher “Gary” and Sandra Myers of Elkin; and five grandchildren, Amanda Elizabeth Myers, Megan Renee Myers, Michael Garrett Myers, Andrew Thomas Myers, and Ashley Herron. A graveside memorial service will be held Thursday, December 21, 2017, at 2:00 PM at Oakdale Cemetery, with Brother Lacy Mayes officiating. No formal visitation will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mount Airy Public Library, 145 Rockford Street, Mount Airy, NC 27030; or the Yancey County Library, P.O. Box 1659, Burnsville, NC 28714. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
