Mrs. Mary Lois Holt Overby, age 82 of Westfield, North Carolina passed away on Friday, August 7, 2020, at her home. She was born in Patrick County on August 13, 1937, to the late Sherman Holt, and Ruby McHone Holt. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by eight siblings, Haywood Holt, Racheal Owens, Mabel Woods, Adalene Adkins, Clyde Holt, Mildred Overby, James Williams Holt and Joy Holt; and one daughter-in-law, Jennifer Overby. Mrs. Overby was of the Primitive Baptist faith and was known for her love of reading her Bible; she read it through thirteen times. Lois will be remembered for devotion as a wife, love she gave to her children, and the joy she took in being “Granny Loisie” to her grandchildren.
Mrs. Overby is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, John Lester Overby of the home, one daughter, Charlene Doss and husband, Ronnie of Claudville, three sons, Maynard Overby and wife, Emily, Michael Overby and wife, Trisha, and Keith Overby, all of Lawsonville, NC; six grandchildren, Renee Quesenberry and husband, Richard, Ryan Doss, Elizabeth Overby, Rachel Overby, Hannah Overby, and Joseph Overby; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. in Aaron’s Corner Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Elder Rodney Marshall and Pastor Shaun Draughn officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 18981 Jeb Stuart Hwy., Stuart, VA 24171. Friends may come by Moody Funeral Home in Stuart on Monday, August 10, 2020, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. to pay their respects.
