Mary Sue Mills Puckett

Mrs. Mary Sue Mills Puckett, 89, of 3942 Hatchers Chapel Road, Claudville, VA, passed away Sunday, August 20, 2006, at the home of her daughter. Mrs. Puckett was born May 15, 1917, in Patrick County, VA, to the late Walter L. and Louie Frans Mills. Mrs. Mills was a school teacher throughout Carroll and Patrick counties for 37 years. She attended Unity Church in Ararat, VA. She is survived by a daughter, Willynda "Lynda" Holder of Claudville, VA; six grandchildren, Donna Childress of Lake Wylie, SC, Melanie Slate of Claudville, VA, Jeffrey Childress of Winston-Salem, Lisa Kisamore of Mount Airy, Gerri Mazur of Concord, and Trey Childress of King; nine great grandchildren; a great-great granddaughter; and a sister, Ilene Mills Cooke of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Puckett was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Paul Truman Puckett; and two brothers, James Leftwich Mills and Joseph Clyde Mills. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 23, 2006, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Rayton Puckett and the Rev. Buford Jessup. Burial will follow in the Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, and other times at the home of Willynda "Lynda" Holder, 3950 Hatchers Chapel Road, Claudville, VA.
