Mary Leo Hiatt Samuel

Ms. Mary Leo Hiatt Samuel, 80, of 106 Summitt Avenue, Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. She was born April 6, 1928, in Surry County, to the late Henry Hobert and Roxie Mae Terrell Hiatt. She was a homemaker, retired from Cross Creek Apparel, and a member of the Baptist faith. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Billie and Bill Casstevens of Mount Airy and Jo Anne and R.J. Cummings of Elkin; five grandchildren and three spouses, Joel and Carol Casstevens of Mount Airy, Lori Shumate of Dobson, Rebecca Cummings of Raleigh, Jennifer and Luke Cave of Elkin, Robert and Kimberly Cummings of Durham; and seven great-grandchildren, Kipp Casstevens, Kyle Casstevens, Austin Shumate, Ethan Shumate, Joshua Cave, Jacob Cave, and Jenna Cave. The funeral service will be held Saturday, May 10, 2008, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Kenny Pardue, and burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
