Mary Sue Turner Williams

Mary ‘Sue’ Turner Williams passed away May 16, 2024 at The Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 26, 1932 in Floyd, Virginia to the late John Paul and Emmazetta Alderman Turner. She is survived by two sons, Larry (Susan) Williams and Mark Williams, one sister-in-law, Peggy Williams Hemmings, several nieces and nephews, and many friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis L. Williams, her brother, John Paul (J.P.) Turner, Jr. and her granddaughter, Sara Elizabeth Williams. Sue was employed by The Enterprise in Stuart, Va., The Mount Airy Times, The Mount Airy News and Pioneer Printing, where she worked as a linotype operator then a typesetter for many years. She often said she had printer’s ink in her veins. She enjoyed spending time with her family, going dancing with her husband and their many friends, and cooking for both friends and family. Her potato salad was legendary. If you left her house hungry, it was your own fault. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at 2:00 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with Reverend Trent Lyons officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 ~ 2:00 on Tuesday at Moody Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens Mausoleum. The family would like to thank Commonwealth Senior Living in Hillsville, Va. for their loving care of Sue for the almost six years that she was with them. They would also like to thank the staff at The Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home for their loving care and support of both Sue and her family.
