Mrs. Mary Ann Shelton Tate, 62, of Mt. Airy passed away Friday, January 18, 2019 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem.  She was born in Stokes County on March 10, 1956 to Lou Ella Bowman Shelton and the late Hobart Shelton.  Mrs. Tate was a loving homemaker who will be dearly missed by all her family and many friends.  In addition to her mother, Mrs. Tate is survived by her husband, Dennis “Charles” Tate; a daughter and son-in-law, April Dawn Tate and James Lee Wood; grandchildren, Andrew William O’Neal, Charles Ransom Cummings, Brody Dean O’Neal, Bryson Lee O’Neal; sisters and brother-in-law, Shirley Willard, Marilyn Irvin, Irene and Allen Lewis, JoAnn Marshall; a brother and sister-in-law, Johnny Ray and Gail Shelton; many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her father, Mrs. Tate was preceded in death by a daughter, Brandy Renee Tate; a grandson, Alex Joseph O’Neal.  A funeral service will be held Monday, January 21, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Brother J.K. Farris, the Rev. Bill Tucker and the Rev. David Tucker officiating.  Burial will follow in Trinity Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt.
