Mary Elizabeth Talley Upchurch

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Talley Upchurch, age 88 of Mount Airy and formerly of Raleigh, passed away Friday, July 17, 2009 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Upchurch was born September 25, 1920 in Cherokee County, SC to James Monily and Nancy Moore Talley. She was a loving mother, grandmother and dear sister. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Ray Russell of Mt. Airy; a son, Ernest "Gene" Upchurch of Raleigh; a granddaughter, Kimberly R. Gardner and husband, Matthew; and a brother and sister-in-law, Dick and Dot Talley of Gaffney, SC. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Upchurch was preceded in death by her dear husband, Dr. Ernest Carl Upchurch and by a brother, Roy Talley. A private graveside service will be held prior to a celebration of remembrance that will be conducted at Forest Hills Baptist Church by Dr. Larry Harper at 201 Dixie Trail, Raleigh, NC at 1:00 PM, Monday, July 20, 2009. The family will receive friends Monday, July 20, 2009 at the church immediately following the service.
