Mary Virginia Willis

Mrs. Mary Virginia Ayers Willis, 97, of Mt. Airy passed away Sunday, December 16, 2018 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  She was born in Patrick County on September 23, 1921 to the late George Cleveland and Jessie Mae Childress Ayers.  Mrs. Willis was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.  She will be remembered by many as the beautiful woman with the warm smile at the Blu-Vue Restaurant, where she retired after many years of service.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking delicious pound cakes and meals for them.  She encouraged them to always do their best in everything they did, and never to be late.  She is survived by her son, L.K. “Bill” Willis, a grandson and his wife, Vince and Deena Willis; great-grandchildren, Ethan Willis and Allison Willis; step great-grandson and wife, Seth and Jessica Perry; a step great-great grandson, Cooper Perry; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Lillian and Joe Scales and Betty Eaton; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Willis was preceded in death by her husband, Kyle W. Willis; a daughter-in-law, Helen Willis; sisters, Polly France and Ruby Marshall; and brothers, G.C., Leonard and Gaston Ayers.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Moody Funeral Home with Brother Sammy Lawson.  Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.  In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Rd., Dobson, NC 27017.  Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
