Mary Ellen (Smith) Wood

Mrs. Mary Ellen Smith Wood, 72 of Mount Airy passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at Central Continuing Care in Mount Airy.  Mrs. Smith was born on August 28, 1949, in Nicholas County, West Virginia to the late French and Cecil Smoot Smith.  She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend.  She will be deeply missed by all that knew her.  Left to cherish her memoires is her son, Melvin Daniel Wood; and five brothers.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Junior Wood; along with four sisters.  No formal services will be held at this time.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, North Carolina 27030.
