Mrs. Mary Helen Mitchell Wyatt, age 71, of Patrick Springs, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 9, 2022, at Northern Regional Hospital in Mount Airy. She was born in Smith County, Virginia on October 11, 1950, to the late Oscar Gilmore Mitchell, Sr. and Sadie Lorene Hayden Mitchell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, William Edward Wyatt, Jr.; one great-grandchild, Sadie Lou Paige Cassell; three brothers, Oscar (Junie) Mitchell, Jr., Robert Mitchell, Wesley Mitchell; and one infant sister, Sarah Mitchell. Mrs. Wyatt was a member of New Beginnings Baptist Church and retired from Fieldcrest Mills. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend to all who knew her. Mary loved her Lord and had a strong faith in her relationship with Him. She often said to anyone that was going through a trial, to just “Put it in the Lord’s hands.” She will be sorely missed by many, especially her family. Mary enjoyed her free time by making crafts and drawing. She will be remembered for her love of cooking and feeding everyone that visited her; but most of all, she will be remembered for her love and sweet spirit.
Mrs. Wyatt is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, William Edward “Bill” Wyatt, Sr. of the home; two daughters, Melissa Ann Wyatt, of Patrick Springs; Amanda Wyatt Nester (Gary) of Patrick Springs; six grandchildren, Ashley Wyatt, William Fain, Kelsey Fain (Thomas), Jessica Frazier (Nathan), Haley Nester, Kevin Nester; eleven great-grandchildren, William, Bryson, Colton, Logan, Waylon, Lexie, Madalee, Ryan, Mason, Carter, and Harper; two brothers, Jerry Mitchell (Delores) of Saltville, Wayne Mitchell of Saltville; four sisters, Retha Moore, Ellen Mitchell, Lisa Mitchell, Amy Mitchell, all of Saltville; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
