Mrs. Mary Nell Beamer Wynne, 87, of Mount Airy, widow of E.G. Wynne, Jr., died Saturday, November 15, 2008, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Wynne was born October 6, 1921, the daughter of the late Dorsey Cullen and Martha Victoria Monday Beamer. Mrs. Wynne was retired from Quality Mills of Mount Airy. She was a very active, lifelong member of the First Baptist Church, where she also served on the Diaconate. For several years, Mrs. Wynne was secretary of the United Fund of Mount Airy. Mrs. Wynne loved playing bridge, cooking, and entertaining. She also enjoyed having lunch with the Marion Street lunch bunch ladies. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Jim Parker of Clemmons and Vicki and Tom McGuirt of Lumberton; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Betty Wynne of Raleigh; grandchildren, Suzanne Parker Miller and her husband, Steve, of Raleigh, Douglas McGuirt of Clemson, SC, Mary Lauren McGuirt of Atlanta, GA, Josh Wynne, Zack Wynne, Sam Wynne, and Hannah Wynne, all of Raleigh; a sister, Ann Adams of Galax, VA; and three brothers and four sisters-in-law, Dorsey Jr. and Sarah Beamer of Galax, VA, Richard Arlen and Libba Beamer of Durham, Bobby and Janice Beamer of Walnut Cove, and Christine Beamer of Mount Airy. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Wynne was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Beamer; and a brother, Maynard Beamer. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, November 18, 2008, at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Mount Airy, with Dr. Roger Gilbert and the Rev. Chris Aho officiating. The family will receive friends after the service in the Fireside Room. The Wynne family wants to extend their appreciation for the loving care given to their mother by Dr. Roger Kerley, Dr. Todd Greenwood, The Mount Airy Dialysis Center, the staffs of the Palliative Care Unit at Forsyth Memorial Hospital and Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. The family also wishes to thank special caregivers, Wayne Draughn, Howard Webb, and Mike King. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 714 North Main Street, Mount Airy, NC 27030, or the Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane Winston Salem, NC 27103. Moody Funeral Service of Mount Airy is serving the Wynne family.
