Fortson, Georgia - Mr. Matthew (Matt) Tucker Wood, 37, of Fortson, GA, passed away unexpectedly at his home Tuesday, May 9, 2023. He was born in Elmendorf AFB, Alaska. Matt was a graduate of Columbus Technical College in Columbus, GA with several certifications as a welding technician. Matt loved music, reading, cooking with his mom and trout fishing with his dad. Left to cherish his memories are his parents, Michael and Yvonne Wood, many aunts, uncles and cousins; special friends Jeremy, Josh and Julian. Matt was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth (Beth) Wood; grandparents, Don and Maude Scott; Golden and Hulda Wood. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, Mt. Airy, NC with Rev. Grant Atkins officiating. Anyone is welcome to pay their respects at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy on Monday from 4:00 until 6:00 PM.
