Mattie Eveline Hawks Goad

Mrs. Mattie Eveline Hawks Goad, 79, of Cana, VA, passed away early Tuesday morning, March 4, 2025, at her home. Mrs. Goad was born August 15, 1945, in Carroll County, VA, the daughter of the late Clarence Lonnie and Grady Ethel Easter Hawks. Eveline retired from Rite Aid after many years of service and attended Cedar Lane Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Raymond Junior Goad; a daughter, Lesa Reeves; a son and daughter-in-law, Gregory Kent and Faye Goad; five grandchildren, Amanda Goad, Chandler Hull (Jessica), Marsha Clark (Tim), Michelle Leftwich (Lance), and Marlana Perry (B.J.); seven great-grandchildren, Katie Goad, Taron Barrett, Preston Hull, Grace Leftwich, Ellie Perry, Maddie Perry, and Will Perry; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Goad was preceded in death by two sisters, Rosa “Rosie” Hawks and Edith Jones; and two brothers, Clarencie Hawks and Joseph “J.E.” Hawks. The funeral service will be held Thursday, March 6, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Ed Bowman officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
