Mrs. Mattie "Mae" Allen Hall, 75, of Mount Airy, passed away Monday, August 17, 2009, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Hall was born June 29, 1934, in Patrick County, VA, to Jasper and Ella Mae Cloud Allen. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and attended Maple Grove United Methodist Church. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Susie and Steve Hall and Carolyn and Haley Cockerham, all of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Sandy Hall of Mount Airy; grandchildren, Kevin Hall and wife, Amie, of Dobson, Bambi Craver and husband, Terry, of Yadkinville, and Kimberly "Kim" Hall and fiance, Marc Driggers, of Mount Airy; great-grandchildren, Sydney Craver and Chris Hall; and sisters, Zelma Midkiff of Mount Airy and Ruth Hall of Boonville. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Clevie Hall; a grandson, Christopher Eugene Hall; sisters, Leadie Busick and Thelma Hicks; and brothers, Elmer Allen, Jim Allen, Bill Allen, and Charlie Allen. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, August 20, 2009, at Maple Grove United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Richard Buffkin. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Woltz Hospice Home for the wonderful care and love shown to Mrs. Hall during her illness. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
