Mr. Maurice Wyatt, 79, of 149 Alexandria Lane, Mount Airy, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday afternoon, May 29, 2009, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Wyatt was born April 23, 1930, in Ashe County, son of the late Beldon Freeman and Maude Woodie Wyatt. He served our country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Maurice was a retired welder from McGraw and Morgan and a member of Fancy Gap Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Lottie Cundiff Wyatt of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael and Barbara Wyatt of Galax, VA, and Jayson Belton of Indianola, MS; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Cynthia Montgomery of Mount Airy, Phyllis and Jim Rammell of Cary, and Dee and Pete Foley of Stuart, VA; thirteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wyatt was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlotte Belton Mitchell; a son-in-law, Elwood Montgomery; and a brother, Mitchell Wyatt. The funeral service will be held Monday, June 1, 2009, at 11:00 AM at Fancy Gap Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dwight Sechrist officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery, with military honors by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where his body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes before the funeral service.
