Mrs. Maurine Cindy Hayes Gates, age 89, of Dobson, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2022, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born October 3, 1932, to the late William Ted Hayes and the late Martha Cave Hayes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bennett Gates; and her brothers, Johnny Hayes, Thurman Hayes, Louie Hayes and Teddy Ray Hayes.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Marty Branch; son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Teresa Draughn; grandchildren, Sunny Chrismon (Phillip), Courtney Branch, Robin Narehood, and Eric Moats; great grandchildren, Charlotte Chrismon, Kai Wagner, Jasmine Narehood, Sophie Narehood, Nathan Narehood, Dylan (Amber) Moats, and Ethan Moats; her sister, Gail Holland; and her brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Carol Hayes.
Mrs. Gates was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and had worked as a restaurant manager at the Four Seasons Center in Greensboro. Maurine‘s wit and personality was legendary and everyone who knew her has a story to tell. She had many lifelong friends. She was a loyal friend and loved her family so much.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 20, 2022, from 10:00-11:00 AM at Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson. Services will begin at 11:00 AM in the Moody Davis Chapel with Rev. Harry Sammons officiating. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens in Mount Airy. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 1427 Edgewood Drive, Mount Airy NC 27030.
